How to plant Vaccinium ‘Vaccinium Duke’

Give the pot a good soak first. Then dig a wide planting hole, enrich the soil with compost, and plant so the top of the root ball sits level with the ground. Firm in gently and water well, then add a mulch to hold in moisture.

How to care for Vaccinium ‘Vaccinium Duke’

Keep the compost moist and water with rainwater, as tap water can be alkaline. Feed in spring with an ericaceous fertiliser. Water with rainwater and keep soil acidic; plant two varieties for a better crop. From the third year, prune in late winter by removing a few of the oldest stems to encourage fresh, fruiting growth. Birds love the fruit, so net bushes as berries ripen. Yellow leaves suggest the compost is not acidic enough.
